Endoscopy allows the veterinarian to look into certain parts of the body that would otherwise be impossible without surgery. This technique allows veterinarians to diagnose certain diseases or find foreign bodies within hollowed organs or orifices. Many times endoscopy can eliminate the need for more invasive procedures such as surgery. The patient is under general anesthesia for these procedures to minimize stress and discomfort.
